With a background in Applied Physics and a dream of studying Aerospace Engineering, Jop Luysterburgs aspirations seemed to be set in the skies. However, because of the length of that education, combined with the responsibilities of being a new father, got him to seek alternative routes to success.
Jop had some coding experience and eventually found SALT’s Career program in Amsterdam 🇳🇱. He applied to the .Net/C#-program, got accepted, and joined during the autumn of 2022.
What initially seemed like a daunting challenge soon became a transformative experience.
– I appreciate my time at SALT despite the challenges of being a father to a newborn baby and a 1.5-hour commute to the campus. But I successfully managed it all. I learned a lot about coding and also developed more “people skills.” Mob programming, in particular, introduced me to a unique coding approach and a different way of thinking, says Jop.
Just two weeks before graduating from the Career program, Jop received a job offer from Nationale Nederlanden, a prestigious company in the finance and insurance sector.
– I enjoy working for Nationale-Nederlanden . I mainly work as a SAP developer but also build different services to improve the new Architecture in TypeScript, says Jop.
Jop’s message to future participants is clear – believe in yourself, find a useful lesson in everything in your life, and trust the program 🚀
