SALT is striving for a richer diversity in the European tech industry
We believe that professional organizations should mirror the population’s diversity. With our accelerated career program we aim to increase the number of women and new Europeans in tech.
We are actively targeting both women and non-binary individuals and currently we have about 40-50% joining the programs – above average in the current tech market. Moreover, we also see a wide age range of individuals who have decided to change their career and join SALT – we have train drivers, dentists, tour guides, economists, and many more who have decided that they want to pursue a new career as a developer.
The backgrounds in “salties” differ, but everyone has the passion for code in common!

SALT is striving for a richer diversity in the European tech industry. We believe that a professional organization should mirror the population’s diversity. Shaping the Future of Tech
Career changers
Individuals who join SALT come from different backgrounds and experiences, one being occupational backgrounds. We train drivers, dentists, tour guides, economists, KTH-graduates, architects – everyone who decided to pursue their dream of a new career as a developer. We believe that past work experience brings value and new perspectives into a business, which will foster the career path as a software developer.
More so, we believe that diversity in past experience and perspectives will bring great team dynamics and problem solving abilities to the group.
Generational Dynamics
SALT strives towards increasing the age range in our programs. Looking at our developers, we can see how individuals decide to make career changes at different stages in life, determined to join SALT to become fullstack developers. At the same time, we also see a younger generation who have grown up in the digital age, who have known their entire life that they want to pursue a life within programming.
The variation in age within our SALT community adds to the dynamic & diversity of our programs, ranging from 18 years to 44 years of age.
Women in tech
Increasing the number of female developers in a tech team enhances the diversity of perspectives, fosters better collaboration, and improves problem-solving, ultimately leading to more innovative solutions and team success. At SALT, we strive towards increasing the number of women in our programs, in 2023 we had 48% women across all of our programs, which is above average in the tech market. In addition, we strive towards an even wider gender inclusivity and diversity overall, with the goal to bring more gender diversity into tech organizations in the long run.
